Direct Line Review – “I got a letter about a year ago mentioning pet insurance and how could I benefit from it. Well I’ve been in London for the past 5 years and I also wanted to have a dog. I never had one just because I had many people saying to me that having a dog in UK due to insurance is almost impossible. Told me that the insurance was “something out of this world”. What is not covered by my Pet Insurance policy?

• These include any claims for any illness or disease that happens during the first 14 days of the policy or before the start date of the policy.
• The policy does not cover any preventative, non essential or routine treatment or tests such as flea treatment, neutering and vaccination, behavioural problems, pregnancy, food and dental treatment,unless due to accidental external injury.

Do I pay the vet and you reimburse me, or can payment be made to the vet directly?

• We are happy to send claim payments directly to your vet provided your vet agrees that we may do this.
• You can advise us who should receive the claim payment on the claim form.
• If you would like us to pay your veterinary practice directly you should pay the excess to the practice first.

Are there any age limits or restrictions for Pet Insurance?

• We can insure your pet as long as he/she is a minimum of 8 weeks of age and up to a maximum of 11 years, (6 years for some breeds of dog), at the start date of the policy. If you start cover between these ages, we will not stop cover purely because he/she has reached a certain age.
